Warners Bay Little Learners Early Learning Centre is passionately driven to ensure the highest quality of early education and care is delivered.
Warners Bay Little Learners provides a special blend of the highest quality child care and education, delivered by qualified and highly trained staff in a unique, innovative environment. At Warners Bay Little Learners, we understand how precious your children are and are committed to make their happiness and growth our priority. The trained and experienced owners and staff have a genuine passion for high quality child care, teaching and learning and receive ongoing training and development. To prepare the older children for school, our qualified staff plan and prepare a weekly “School Readiness” program, which allows for both planned, structured activities and children's spontaneous ideas; this supports children to construct their own ideas, to discover, explore, and develop their own sense of agency.
We understand the importance of environmental learning and are passionate about giving the children opportunities to be in touch with the natural world and explore methods of sustainability. Our outdoor spaces have been specifically designed by award winning “Natural Playspace” designer, Tess Michaels. The goal of designing children's outdoor environments is to use the landscape and vegetation as the play setting. They offer children chances to manipulate the environment and explore, to use their imagination, to interact with nature, animals and insects, and other children. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS) acknowledge the importance of outdoor learning environments:
“Playspaces in natural environments include plants, trees, edible gardens, sand, rocks, mud, water and other elements from nature. These spaces invite open-ended interactions, spontaneity, risk-taking, exploration, discovery and connection with nature. They foster an appreciation of the natural environment, develop environmental awareness and provide a platform for ongoing environmental education.” (DEEWR, 2009, p. 16).
The philosophy of Warners Bay Little Learners is embedded in our motto “nurture, inspire, achieve”, guided by the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework - “Belonging, Becoming and Being”.
We believe that each child is a unique individual and shall be viewed and treated as such. We aim to provide a warm, safe, secure and nurturing environment. We strive to build trusting relationships with all children, to enhance each child’s sense of belonging and wellbeing, which in turn supports each child’s holistic development. We will ensure each child feels love, security and a sense of belonging, and will scaffold the development of each child as an individual who can grow their separate identity and qualities while still constantly contributing within a large group of peers.
We believe all children are active learners, creating and building knowledge, learning, self-image, confidence and independence through daily experiences and by nurturing in each child a positive approach to themselves, sense of responsibility, self-discipline and self-esteem. We believe the curriculum should be co-constructed and supported by educators from children’s emerging ideas and family input.
The children are given opportunities to explore, create, problem solve and discover in an environment that supports diversity, sustainability and individuality. The Children are inspired to respect and value the environment in which we live, giving them opportunities to understand and explore sustainability.
Our environments are calm, enriched with natural and textual items that are sustainable and focus on our core values of sustainable practices, to reduce, upcycle and recycle.
At Warners Bay Little Learners, we believe children are Competent, Capable learners. Their interests, strengths and needs are integrated into our curriculum towards the principles, practices and learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework.
Being is recognised, valued and achieved through the relationships created, developed and nurtured at Warners Bay Little Learners. Participation in and collaboration with families and the local community is seen as an evolving resource, essential to the development of the child’s sense of belonging.
We acknowledge our educators as being our greatest assets, valuing their individuality, their experience and their uniqueness. We encourage our educators to work in a collaborative way, sharing their knowledge and expertise, forging a strong supportive team.
We believe that our educators learn and re-learn with the children as well as providing children with the opportunity to give shape to their experience, not just to be shaped by an experience.
We believe that educators are given the opportunities for learning and engaging in active research, to extend their skills and abilities through ongoing professional development.
Through challenge, inquiry and creativity, the children will be encouraged to be the catalysts for their own learning, all within a safe, nurturing environment.
